The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is responsible for administering car insurance requirements and currently (2010) require all vehicles to carry at least the following minimum policy limits of liability coverage:
- $30,000 liability insurance per person (per accident)
- $60,000 liability insurance for all persons (per accident)
- $25,000 property damage liability coverage
